Before we talk about the program

Can I tell you what I hear from almost every parent who finds True Teen Wellness?

“We have been to the appointments. We have tried the medication. We have sat in the waiting rooms and filled out the intake forms and nodded through the 20-minute sessions. And our teenager is still struggling. And no one can tell us why.

If that is your family right now — I want you to know two things. You are not alone. And you are not out of options. You are simply operating without the medical education that makes everything else actually work.

The Foundation Program was built for this moment. Not to replace your teenager’s care team — but to give you the physician-level understanding that lets you advocate, ask the right questions, and finally stop feeling like you are flying blind inside your own family’s mental health journey.

“I became a physician because I believe every family deserves to understand what is actually happening inside their teenager — not just be handed a prescription and sent home. That is what the Foundation Program gives you. Real answers from a real physician who has time to teach you.”
— Dr. Christina Brown, MD  ·  Founder, True Teen Wellness
Is this program right for you?

The Foundation Program was built for the parent who

Knows something is wrong with their teenager but cannot get a clear answer about what is actually driving it
Feels lost in psychiatric appointments — nodding along but leaving without truly understanding what was just said
Wonders whether nutrition, sleep, hormones, or something biological might be contributing to their teen’s symptoms
Has been told “the labs are normal” but suspects there is more to the picture than they are being shown
Wants to support their teenager more effectively but does not know what that looks like in practice
Is a person of faith who wants care that honors the whole teenager — body, mind, and spirit together
Your physician-led curriculum

Six modules that change the way you understand your teenager forever

These are not generic parenting tips. Every module is built by Dr. Brown from her clinical experience as a Family Medicine and Integrative Psychiatry physician. You will understand your teenager the way a physician does — with compassion and with science.

01
The root cause framework — why symptoms are not the diagnosis
Most mental health care treats the symptom. Root cause medicine asks why the symptom is there. In this foundational module, Dr. Brown teaches you the investigative framework she uses with every patient — biological, nutritional, lifestyle, environmental, and spiritual factors that the standard system almost never evaluates. This module changes how you see everything that comes next.
Clinical framework
02
The teenage brain — what is actually happening neurologically
The adolescent prefrontal cortex is not fully developed until age 25. This is not an excuse — it is neuroscience. In this module, Dr. Brown explains exactly how the teenage brain processes emotion, makes decisions, responds to stress, and why the behavior you are watching is often biology rather than character. Understanding this changes your response to your teenager in every difficult moment.
Adolescent neuroscience
03
Parent leadership — how to communicate with a teenager who has shut down
Communication with a struggling teenager is a clinical skill, not just a parenting instinct. Dr. Brown teaches the evidence-based communication approaches that actually open closed teenagers — grounded in attachment theory, Gottman’s relationship research, and the neuroscience of co-regulation. This is the module parents say changes their home within the first week.
Communication & attachment
04
Nutrition and the teenage brain — the connection most doctors never make
Approximately 90% of serotonin is produced in the gut. Vitamin D functions like a hormone that directly regulates mood. Low ferritin produces symptoms almost identical to depression. In this module, Dr. Brown teaches the specific nutritional factors that affect your teenager’s brain chemistry — and what to look for, ask about, and request at their next appointment.
Nutritional psychiatry
05
Sleep, stress, and the healing nervous system
Chronic sleep deprivation in teenagers produces neurological and hormonal effects that are clinically indistinguishable from depression. Chronic stress dysregulates the cortisol system in ways that directly impair learning, memory, and emotional regulation. Dr. Brown teaches the physiology of both — and her exact clinical protocols for addressing them in your teenager’s daily life.
Sleep & stress physiology
06
Navigating the medical system — how to advocate effectively for your teenager
Dr. Brown teaches you exactly what to say, what to ask, and what to request in every medical setting — from the pediatrician to the psychiatrist. Word-for-word scripts for requesting specific labs, templates for communicating concerns clearly, and the clinical language that gets you taken seriously in any appointment. You will never leave a doctor’s office feeling powerless again.

The long-term investment

Why the families who stay see the greatest transformation

Healing a teenager’s mental health is not a 30-day project. It is a season of intentional, consistent, physician-guided work. Here is what your family gains month by month when you stay committed to the process.

Month 1–2
Foundation & understanding
You complete the core modules and your initial coaching call. For the first time, you understand the biological and neurological picture of what your teenager is experiencing. You begin asking different questions at medical appointments and getting different answers.
Month 3–4
Implementation & early shifts
You are applying the communication tools from Module 3 consistently. You have attended 2 live Q&A sessions and gotten specific guidance for your teenager’s situation. Parents in this phase consistently report that something in their relationship with their teenager has shifted — even if the clinical picture is still complex.
Month 5–6
Confidence & advocacy
You know how to navigate every medical appointment. You know what labs to request and what the results mean. You have a framework for understanding your teenager’s behavior that reduces your fear and increases your effectiveness. You are no longer flying blind.
Month 7–9
Deepening & community
The monthly masterclasses have covered topics specific to where your family is now. You have built relationships with other parents in the Q&A community who understand exactly what you are carrying. You are not just educated — you are supported. That support changes how you show up for your teenager every single day.
Month 10–12
Integration & long-term strength
The parent who started here ten months ago and the parent who is here now are two different people. You understand your teenager’s brain. You advocate powerfully in every medical setting. Your communication with your teenager has fundamentally changed. And you have a physician-led resource that continues to grow with your family for as long as you need it.
The real reason to stay
Your teenager needs you to be educated for the long haul
Healing does not happen in a month. The families whose teenagers make the greatest progress are the ones with a consistently educated, consistently supported parent who keeps showing up — month after month — with the knowledge and the tools to make a difference.
★★★★★
“I had been to every appointment, tried every medication, and done everything they told me to do. What Dr. Brown gave me in the Foundation Program was the one thing no one else had ever offered: an actual explanation. I finally understood what was happening in my son’s brain and body — and I finally knew what to do about it. Three months in, my son is doing better than he has in two years. Not because of a new medication. Because I finally knew what questions to ask.”

Common questions

Answers before you decide

My teenager is already seeing a therapist and a psychiatrist. Do I still need this?
The Foundation Program does not replace your teenager’s care team — it makes you a more effective partner within that team. Most parents leave psychiatric appointments without fully understanding what was said or what to do next. This program gives you the medical education to understand every conversation, ask the right questions, and advocate powerfully for your teenager at every appointment. Therapists and psychiatrists consistently tell patients that having an educated, engaged parent is one of the most predictive factors in a teenager’s recovery.
How much time does this require each week?
Most parents complete one module per week at their own pace — each module is 30 to 45 minutes. The monthly live masterclass and Q&A session is typically 60 to 75 minutes. Beyond that, the program fits around your life. You are not expected to be at a screen every day. You are expected to keep coming back — because consistency is what creates the cumulative knowledge that changes how you parent.
What if my teenager’s situation is too complex for this program?
The Foundation Program is designed for families in the early to middle stages of navigating their teenager’s mental health. If your teenager has been hospitalized, carries multiple complex diagnoses, or has not responded to multiple medications, you may be a better fit for the Transformation Program — Dr. Brown’s private physician care tier. You can take the free quiz to find out which program is right for your family.
Can I cancel anytime?
Yes. The Foundation Program is month-to-month with no contract and no cancellation fees. You can cancel at any time through your member portal. That said, families who commit to at least 3 months consistently report the greatest shifts — because the knowledge builds on itself and the live Q&A sessions become increasingly specific to your family’s situation over time.
Is this program only for mothers?
Absolutely not. While many of our members are mothers, the Foundation Program is for any parent, caregiver, or family member who wants to understand their teenager better and advocate more effectively. We have fathers, grandparents, and foster parents in the program. The teenager does not participate directly — this education is for the adults who are walking alongside them.
